WikiFashionista.com Beauty Tip: Halloween Nail Art

Thursday, October 27, 2011
Happy Halloween fashionistas! Nothing makes a statement like some fun nail art for this creative time of year. Wearing a spooky nail design is one of the most subtle ways that you can make a fun Halloween statement without going over the top. If you’re not the type to get dressed up in an elaborate costume or even if you are, below are a few product suggestions to get you going in the right direction.

These dangerous dagger nails would work for an elaborate costume, such as poison ivy or an evil vamp witch. We like the netting design mixed with the sassy purple and hot pink colors on the tips of the nails and the nude nail beds. There are some nail polishes that you might want to consider for achieving your Halloween nail art look.

The makers of Orly nail polish is one of the few companies to make a Halloween collection that includes three popular shades: Liquid Vinyl, Orange Punch, and Goth. Orly is a great brand that creates polish especially for this time of year to meet your haunted nail art needs. If you’re thinking of dressing as super hero this Halloween we suggest a black Liquid Vinyl nail. Or if you’re not dressing up your could paint your nails Orange Punch, which would be perfectly acceptable for the office.

China Glaze is another company that caters to the Halloween crowd, with more elaborate colors such, Haunting, Crimson, Near Dark, It’s Alive, Goulish Glow: glow in the dark polish re-edition, Black Mesh: black crackle re-edition. We especially love the cool names given to these very unique hues. We would go with this brand if you’re looking to go the extra mile with your Halloween efforts. If you’re planning on being Lady GaGa for example we would have to choose “Haunting” or Near Dark to complete your fashionable outfit.

The names of the O.P.I Spookettes nail lacquers are as follows:

HE’S MY BOO – which is a candy corn shade of orange

MUMMY KNOWS BEST- a chalky white base color

I ONLY DATE WEREWOLVES – which is deep dark black

ZOM-BODY TO LOVE (glow in the dark)

The collection also comes with free decals for your nails.

We hope all you all have the most fashionable Halloween that you can possibly have! And feel free to post your scary pictures right here. Also, be on the lookout for a special Halloween surprise coming real soon. Once again, thanks for keeping it locked a twww.wikifashionista.com, your source for what’s trending in fashion now.

Fall 2011 Fashion Trend: Knee High Boots

ts boot season fashionistas, and there are many available to choose from this season’s finest styles. While there is much to choose from, one trend is standing out from the rest. This season it’s all about the knee high boots. We’ve spotted them on celebrity fashionistas as well as autumn/fall 2011 runways. Check out the trend below.

First up is Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wearing a suede pair of pointed-toe knee high boots while stumping the pavement this fall. She wore them over jeans paired with a long black cardigan, oversized status tote and a pair of gigantic shades for a casual relaxed look.

Prada showcased an inspiring pair of snakeskin knee highs on their autumn/winter 2011 catwalk. Not really a fan of the outfit, but we’d suggest wearing these unique knee high boots with a black pair of high end leggings and an animal print shirt to mix things up a bit. We like the Mary Jane look design has.

Always seen in knee high boots during this season, Kate Moss was spotted strutting her stuff in a hot pair of Christian Louboutin knee highs. She paired the luxury boots with black skin tight leggings, black t-shirt and vintage leather jacket. Moss finished her outfit with a black status satchel.

Known for her gorgeous gams Jennifer Aniston, dress her beautiful legs in with a suede pair of knee high boots with wooden heels. Aniston completed her look with black leggings and an oversized grey cotton tank top. She also added aviators and a luxury satchel with a chain link shoulder strap to her casual chic look.

Angelina Jolie is notorious for her love of fierce black stilettos, which is why we’re not surprised to see her running around in a pair of leather knee high stiletto boots. She paired them with a loose flowing skirt and a grey cashmere sweater. Looks like she and Aniston have the same taste in handbags and men.

One to watch for her unique fashion sense is Gossip Girl, Leighton Meester. She was spotted on a shopping spree wearing a pair of black knee high lace-up boots. The junior fashionista paired her boots with a shirt dress, oversized cardigan and cute school girl socks. We want to know what she has in those bags!

Viktor & Rolf create fairytale visions on the runway, so it we were excited to see this pair of knee high boots in their autumn/winter 2011 collection. The black patent leather platforms sport silver stud embellishments. These boots are fierce!

Red Carpet Fashion: Celebrities Wearing Calvin Klein Dresses

Hey fashionistas! We’re reviewing out some of our favorite sightings on the red carpet of celebrity fashionistas wearing Calvin Klein. The Calvin Klein esthetic is clean lines and affluent fitting. There’s a good reason why more often than not you’ll find celebrities dressed to impress in Calvin Klein at Hollywood’s main red carpet events.

Definitely at the top of our celebrity fashionista list is Emma Stone. She looked absolutely faultless wearing a peach colored backless floor length Calvin Klein dress to an award show this year. The budding starlet paired her CK gown with a gold clutch and finished her look with a swept up a platinum blonde hairstyle showing us why she is one of our favorites to watch on the red carpet.

A dedicated coinsurer of Calvin Klein, Clare Danes shined like the star she is at a recent gala in New York. Wearing a low cut gold metallic tank dress snitched at the waist, the big screen actress paired the floor length gown with a gold boxed mini clutch. Her golden locks were feathered in formal sophistication.

This unsuspected fashionista taught the pros a thing or two about fashion when she went casual to a recent red carpet event. New comer, Jennifer Lawrence received rave reviews when she showed up to one of her many first red carpet events in the power red floor length Calvin Klein tank dress pictured above. The blonde beauty got it right, which is a good thing since the talented actress will no doubt become a regular attendee of award season shows. Lawrence paired her CK dress with a mini metallic box clutch and wore long flowing loose waves.

Like a few other celebrity fashionistas, Zoe Saldana, attended a recent gala in New York wearing a yellow pastel strapless floor length CK gown. Saldana is known for a more unconventional choice in red carpet fashion, which is why it’s refreshing to see her wear a finely tailor gown. We especially love the matching belted feature. The rising actress paired her dress with a gold statement necklace and sleek bob hairdo.

Gwyneth Paltrowlooked super chic in her CK dress at a recent red carpet event. This dress looks as if it were custom made for the actress and budding songstress. The sleeveless silver metallic floor length gown fit Paltrow like a glove. We especially like the unique cut of the dress and the plunging neckline is super sexy. The dazzling starlet wore a part down the middle of her bone straight locks.

What She Wore: Gossip Girl Season 5 Update #4

Hello fashionistas! The new season of Gossip Girl is off to a fine start fashion-wise, as if there was any doubt that it would be. Serena and Blair’s Upper East Side style has evolved over the years, but we can conclude that these ladies have come grown into their styles quite nicely. Big designer names so far this season and favorites of ours have been Yves Saint Laurent, Prada and Oscar de la Renta to name a few. So follow us as we take a look at what the leading ladies of Gossip Girl wore next.

Episode::The Jewel of Denial::Blair

Things were not all perfect in Blair’s world this episode, but she did manage to have a beautiful couture moment wearing a Jenny Packham Starburst evening gown from the Spring 2011 Collection. The elegant floor length design boasts an empire waist, low cut v neck and short sleeves. Blair absolutely sparkled in the British designer’s creation.

Episode::Memories of an Invisible Dan::Blair

Dan’s book has been published and boy has he told some tall tales about a fictional group of teens loosely based on the Upper East Side gang. Only time will tell the true story, and besides these misfits can handle a little drama as long as they’re equipped with good fashion. Blair wore a ruffled chiffon Peter Som dress with an embroidered sequin sleeveless top. She pair the impressively chic outfit with a pair of Lila Castellaneta pointed-toe jewel accented slingbacks. Va va voom!

Episode::I am Number Nine::Blair

As you should know by now, Blair’s style is simple and tasteful. She veers toward the more conservative side of fashion especially when she is dressing to impress. Above she’s wearing a red shift dress with a lace inset and short sleeves by Blumarine. Her heels are red platforms by Sergio Rossi.

Episode::The Fasting and the Furious::Blair

Looking too cute in her Milford Alpaca Luxury Coat by Diane von Furstenberg, Blair gives us a lesson in Nuevo chic style. She also wore an innocent pair of lavish Mary Jane platforms pumps by Stuart Weitzman. We especially love here blue beret and oversized statement bag. Putting together different shades of blue is a great fashion trend to perfect.

Episode::The Fasting and the Furious::Serena

Oh and let’s not forget Serena! The tall blonde socialite was also spotted in this episode wearing a stylish red sequin accented sweater from Marc by Marc Jacobs paired with a Haute Hippie sequin embellished micro mini skirt and an oversized leather satchel by Valentino. And check out her super sexy knee high platform boots. Her outfit is kind of a hodgepodge of fashion designers, but that’s Serena.

Reblog - Exclusive Look: WikiFashionista.com Street Style Video Contest Winner Zoe B. Shows Us Her Swag

Thursday, October 6, 2011

Look whose winning fashionistas! Zoe B. is coming to you from Century City, CA where she’s giving you an inside exclusive look at the newest fashion goodies she’s added to her wardrobe. Zoe selected some stylish fashion accessories from, Handbag Heaven, Affordable Scarves, Sunglass Warehouse and Shiekh Shoes. Check out the video of Zoe rocking her grand prize winnings in the video. And, below is a review on the items Zoe B. chose from the sponsors of the WikiFashionista.com street style video contest as well. Don’t forget to keep checking back for new street style videos at wikifashionista.com, where we speak to real girls, wearing real fashion, in real-time.

Starting from head to toe, Zoe selected the SW Retro Style Black Sunglasses with smoked lenses from Sunglass Warehouse. This ultra cool website is where the smart fashionistas go to get the hottest luxury inspired sunglasses for less. Nothing burns more than to scratch, break or lose and expensive pair of shades. And let’s face it, we all have done it at one time or another, which is why owning luxury accessories, can leave you feeling more grief than chic. Zoe’s Ray-ban inspired sunglasses would cost her a lot more than the similar Retro shades she’s wearing in the video.

Zoe selected the Amanda Circle Scarf in Red, because that’s her favorite color. As seen in the video, the infinity scarf double loops casually around the neck creating a layered look. The thing that is so attractive about infinity scarves is its versatility. You can also wear it as a shrug, through the arms and around the neck. You can also wear it more Beverly Hills chic by lacing one end through the other around the neck. There’s really an infinite amount of possible ways to wear this piece.

Next, Zoe scored the Jamie Buckle Satchel from our friends at Handbag Heaven. Zoe is currently a working college student, so naturally she selected a handbag for a fashionista on the go that will accommodate her school necessities and transition nicely to a work setting. The Jamie Buckle Satchel has two front strap closures and turn lock claps to keep the contents of the bag secure. The two toned color block Tan/Olive handbag also has handy long shoulder strap, which gives a chic messenger bag look to it.

Last but certainly not least, Zoe went with the Fantasik High Heel Wedges in black courtesy of Shiekh Shoes. Judging by her video response, Zoe absolutely loves these ultra high platform wedges with color block heel. We love the edgy thick straps and sexy peep toe front. The Fantasik Wedges will add 5 ½ inches to your current height, so if you’re the kind of fashionista that loves to be super high like Zoe then Shiekh Shoes has what you’re looking for.

Wednesday, October 5, 2011
It’s already time to get serious about perfecting our fall wardrobes fashionistas. That’s right fashionistas; we’re here to help so no need to fret. With a few simple steps you’ll be rocking the freshest gear this fall without the least bit of effort. See our helpful suggestions below!

A fall trench is a step in the right direction. As the weather cools down, it’s time to invest in a warm coat to keep the cold out. Mango clothing at JC Penny has a fashionable coat for this season. Trench coats are a sleek and tailored way to polish your wardrobe. The coat pictured above features a belted waist, large button embellishments and a raised collar (ultra chic).

Statement boots that make a statement! These Nine West boots are knee high, rugged and sexy. Not only are they a fashion statement, but these boots are from the Runway Relief project which benefits the efforts to fight against breast cancer. Raising awareness and money for the fight against breast cancer is a good reason to invest in a nice pair of fall boots. Fashion for a cause is where it’s at.

A brilliant pop of color is just what your fall wardrobe needs to stand out in the sea of greys and dark blues that somehow surface when the sun goes away. Mango clothing has some vibrant tops for the fall season like the kimono sleeve blouse pictured above.

Every fall wardrobe needs a nice pair of dark denim jeans to dress up or dress down for any occasion. We love skinny jeans with knee high boots for a super sexy look and boot cut with super high heels for a conservative polished look. Above the Mango clothing line paired a dark pair of denim jeans with a loose floral top and sophisticated leather jacket.

Last but not least a must have for the fall season is the cardigan. All lengths of cardigans are an acceptable way to keep warm during the cold season. We are keen on leopard print or heather grey cardigans with pockets or fitted animal print sweaters with three quarter sleeves. Check out the Mango sweater layered over a conservative blue top.
