Haute Hippie Dresses: What’s haute this summer? 1970s fashion for 2011.

Wednesday, September 14, 2011
The term “boho” has been on everyone’s lips this summer. The maxi dresses, cascading tops, floppy hats, oversized sunglasses – total Rachel Zoe inspired looks – have been covered in countless magazines and spotted on runways galore. Starting now, take your preconceptions about muted paisley bohemian looks and toss them away! An up and coming line, Haute Hippie, redefines “boho” by adding the touch of luxury with sequined miniskirts, slinky dresses in jewel tone shades, and peek-a-boo shoulder tops.

As seen at Lanvin (pictured above) and Marc Jacobs on the spring 2011 runway, colors and maxi dresses are going to swish their way into every retail store. Paint box colors may not be the new black but they are definitely hard to miss as a rising trend. These statement pieces don’t require the support of many accessories since they do a darn good job of holding up on their own. Maybe a belt or some bangles will do the trick but no layers after layers of necklaces are needed here! Haute Hippie takes the familiar silhouettes associated with “boho” and splashes bright colors onto them, completely updating the look. But the word is already out on this must-have line. The flashy frocks have been seen on celebs such as Jennifer Lopez, Whitney Port, and Carmen Electra on the red carpet.

“Boho” may be a limiting term to the decade of the 1970s fashion but Haute Hippie Dresses takes it to a whole new level. They combine the most significant decades in fashion, the elegant embellishments of the 1920s women fashion, the free-spirited hippie era of the 1970s fashion with a pinch of rock n’ roll sprinkled in with a Native American flare. Best of all, they make garments that are modern and wearable for this era – perfect even for a night out in the city.

The highlights of the collection (pictured below) are the lace up back maxi dress that seamlessly drips down to the floor and the camo iconic miniskirt which is like fashion chainmail in gold and silver. Every fashionista needs a drop dead gorgeous maxi dress and a statement piece in their wardrobe. It’s just hard trying not to need everything from Haute Hippie!

Haute Hippie’s fashion for 2011 can be found at singer22.com and a selected group of high-end retailers including Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdale’s.
